Find your inner peace in less than 5 minutes!
While I firmly believe that having a meditation practice should be as normal as the act of brushing your teeth, I understand that for many of us this choice isn’t a top priority and that’s ok :)
But being able to feel grounded and relaxed is something that we all want to experience, regardless of how much time we have to dedicate to our mental hygiene right?
So I thought it was pretty important to share with you my number one inner peace tip that is quick, simple and easy to practice for those of us who are time poor, overwhelmed, stressed and anxious!
The power of this practice centres on your breath.
Did you know that you take approx 23,040 breaths a day? Yep!
How many of them are you conscious of?
How many of them are deep and fill your belly?
Why do I ask? Well the simple act of consciously breathing deeply into your belly stimulates your vagus nerve and elicits a relaxation response by telling your brain to chill out. This lowers your heart rate and blood pressure.
So whether you are at work, in the car, with the kids or about to go into an interview you can use this practice to break the trance of stress or anxiety so you can ground yourself and feel relaxed!
Inner Peace In 5-10 Breaths
Choose to be sitting, lying down or standing up
Place your hand on your belly
Take a deep breath in through your nose, and send your breath into your belly. You should feel your belly push your hand out.
Pause for a moment.
Begin to breathe out through your mouth or your nose. Feel the hand on your belly go in, and use it to push all the air out.
Repeat 5-10 times and notice how you feel.
